Do I need therapy or am I overreacting?
You're not.
If you find yourself struggling with burnout, stress and anxiety, endless people-pleasing, feeling you've lost your sense of self, and recognising that you have a low self-esteem...
You're in the right place.
If you find yourself often feeling low, disconnected from your life or looking for distraction or escape, it's a good time to start counselling. You do not need a GP referral or to have hit 'rock bottom' to get online therapy- in fact, it's much better to access support as soon as you are able.
Read on to learn how to get started today.
What is online counselling?
By meeting online, you can choose to access counselling from wherever you feel safest. Select a place that is not only convenient but also private, where you will not be interrupted and you feel safe to talk freely on any topic that may come up.
In many ways, online counselling is no different from face-to-face therapy. However, it might be worth noting that there are some differences in how people interact when it's through a screen. Is online therapy right for me?
It's important that you get a sense of whether this is the best fit for you. There are many different approaches to counselling, and I like to try to tailor my style to the individual through regular informal check-ins to make sure we're on the same page.
Most of my clients have found that they end up talking around many topics that they didn't expect would come up, processing emotions that have lain buried for too long. They do so because they finally feel safe enough to venture to that place they have been avoiding for so long, with support. We never rush to get there- once you feel safe, whatever needs to come up will do so. Afterwards, the overwhelming response is relief.
Over time, many of my clients describe feeling more authentic in themselves, calmer, more decisive, and more purposeful in their lives.
About your counsellor
I’m Hannah, a registered member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), with a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and respectful of each person’s individuality. We all experience life differently and process in different ways, and this can create anxiety. But there are many human experiences we share, and realising you're not alone with your feelings can be transformational.
I believe that meaningful change happens when you feel truly seen, accepted, and supported to explore your inner world safely.
